The event will showcase the official opening of the new Ontario City Library Lightspeed makerspace.   Representatives from Ontario’s City and local State Government, as well as the State Librarian, Library and Museum Boards of Trustees, the Lightspeed Maker Board, key city staff and many library partners who help develop Lightspeed have been invited to attend our opening ceremony.  The general public visiting the library at the time of the event are also welcome to join in.  Every attendee will have the opportunity to get hands-on experience with the equipment that will be housed in Lightspeed and enjoy the creative potential the library will offer.  A Design and Build station will house 3D-Modeling computers, 3D-Laser Printers and a Laser Cutter, a textiles station offers sewing machines, a serger, Cricut and Cameo cutters.  Virtual reality provides Oculus Rift, HTC Vive and Microsoft HoloLens for a total immersive learning and prototyping experience.  Graphic Design concepts can be generated with our Surface Pro and iMac stations and STEM-based education will get a boost with Lightspeed’s electronics, robotics and coding stations.  Attendees will see the room potential inaction and see the potential the room will have to be a cultural, educational and economic asset for the community.
