The Enki California Digital Library from Biblioboard uses geolocation to provide immediate access to anyone physically located in the state of California. The library includes over 5,300 simultaneous use eBooks from leading publishers as well as the Indie Author Project Select collection, which features over 400 award-winning inde-published eBooks, some of which are right here in California! Internet Digital Archive 
Books can be read by most browsers directly, or through the Adobe Digital Editions app compatible with your devices. Many titles are available for the DAISY app reader for the visually-disabled. Access to all Archie's content requires registering for a free Internet Digital Archive account.

Library Services for people with print disabilities
California’s Library Services for People with Print Disabilities, in association with the Library of Congress, provides free Braille and audio books, magazines and playback equipment to all eligible Californians unable to read standard print. Follow the link to find your local Braille and talking book library and sign up for free library service. No library card required.

This program for California residents has a limited number of paid all-access seats available. CultureGrams from ProQuest goes beyond basic facts and figures on more than 200 countries, with up-to-date reports detailing daily life culture, history, customs and lifestyle from an insider's perspective. GetSetUp
Is a social learning platform for individuals 50+ taught by their peers who are experts in their field. It provides live classes on digital learning, physical health, mental health, social health and vocational health. Classes are available in English, Spanish, Hindi and Mandarin. This resource is supported in whole or in part by funding provided by the State of California, administered by the California State Library. The partnership between the California State Library and GetSetUp concludes April 30th, 2024. Users will be given 30 days to choose a subscription, after which your account will automatically revert to a free "community only" subscription with limited access to classes. Northstar Digital Literacy
Northstar Digital Literacy defines basic skills needed to perform tasks on computers and online. Online, self-guided modules assess your ability to perform tasks based on these skills. Included are modules in three main areas Essential Computer Skills (basics for computers, internet, email, Windows OS, Mac OS), Essential Software Skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Docs), and Using Technology in Daily Life (social media, information literacy, career search, etc.). ProQuest
This online service provides thousands of articles from general magazines and scholarly journals, most in full-text from 1986 to current. Articles are updated daily and can be printed on-site or emailed to home, office or school. Ontario City Library card required.

Research Companion
Provides a framework and foundation for information literacy instruction. ProQuest Research Companion easily guides patrons step by step through the research process and helps them develop their critical thinking and information literacy skills. SIRS Discoverer
General reference database providing age-appropriate, authoritative, curriculum-aligned content and features for use by students and educators in elementary and middle or intermediate schools. SIRS Issues Researcher

CalGrows 
CalGrows is a website provided by the California Department of Aging that offers free career development resources, coaching, and training to support qualified caregivers of older adults and people with disabilities. 

Calbright College
Calbright is a digital college that focuses on careers, not credentials. We use a combination of online classes, mobile apps, and in-person apprenticeships to provide working adults with the skills they need to move into higher paying jobs. Courses can be taken on each person’s own timeline and from wherever is most convenient.

 

News & Local History Resources

America's News
Search current and archived coverage of issues, events, people, politics and sports with the largest collection of full-text U.S. Newspapers. This database includes staff-written articles, obituaries, editorials, announcements, and real estate. Ontario City Library card required.

California Digital Newspaper Collection (1846 – present)
The California Digital Newspaper Collection offers free access to over two hundred digitized newspapers published across California from 1846 to the present. Included in this database is the San Bernardino Daily Sun, available for years 1894 – 1997, which often covered the Ontario area. The database is searchable, and results can be filtered by decade or year. The collection is a project of the Center for Bibliographical Studies and Research at the University of California, Riverside.

CLIRWater – California Water Documents Collection
In 2017, Ontario City Library's Model Colony History Room embarked on a 3 year project in collaboration with The Claremont Colleges Library, A.K. Smiley Public Library, Upland Public Library, CSU Northridge Oviatt Library, CSU San Bernardino Water Resources Institute, and the National Archives and Records Administration at Riverside to digitize materials related to the history of water, specifically in Southern California, and its impact on development. The project was funded by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, administered through the Council on Library and Information Resources (CLIR), and the project was managed by The Claremont Colleges Library. The collection contains documents, maps, correspondence, photographs, and other materials from all seven contributing institutions. The database is available to all with internet access and is a work in progress.

Inland Valley Daily Bulletin (1912 – March 2002)
Find full-text articles on local news and events on microfilm. Articles dating back to the Ontario Daily Report from 1912 – 1990. In 1990, the Ontario Daily Report merged with a neighboring newspaper and became the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin. The Inland Valley Daily Bulletin newspaper is available on microfilm from April 1990 – March 2002. Inside library use only.

Inland Valley Daily Bulletin (April 2002 – present)
Find full-text articles on local news and events with online access to current and archival issues of the Daily Bulletin. Updated daily, it includes obituaries, editorials, announcements, sports, and real estate. Ontario City Library card required.

Local history and Newspaper Indexes
Search Ontario City Library newspaper index to locate newspaper articles, obituaries, and other items published in local Ontario area newspapers. This index provides a newspaper name, article title, date and page number information for locating articles on newspaper microfilm (located in the library). This index dates back to 1884 and current issues of the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin continue to be indexed. Search the artifact index to find interesting paper materials such as brochures, invitations, announcements, letters, stationery and miscellaneous artifacts such as wine bottles, plaques, trophies, and other items belonging to the Model Colony History Room’s collections.

New York Times
Offers articles, editorials and more from 1851 – present, complete with full multimedia including videos, photographs and VR features. Personalized access is available through mobile apps for phones and tablets, customizable feeds, and article recommendations. Ontario City Library card and free account setup are required.

Covers repair information for almost all domestic and foreign cars and trucks built from 1974 to the present.
