Ontario Police have arrested a man for the shooting death of his mother which occurred at their home in the City of Ontario.

On December 25th at approximately 4:35 PM, Ontario Police Officers responded to the 1300 block of North Vine Avenue for a call of a possible shooting. The caller told police dispatch that he had accidentally shot his mother. Responding officers contacted the male who was taken into custody without incident. Officers then located an elderly female inside the residence who was suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. She was pronounced dead at the home by Ontario Fire Paramedics.

The suspect, Erick James Bolin, age 28 of Ontario, has been booked at West Valley Detention Center on the charge of murder.

The victim’s identity will not be released pending notification from the San Bernardino County Coroner’s office.

Police investigators have recovered a firearm from the home and are actively working the case. The motive for the shooting is still undetermined.
