The Ontario Police Department will be conducting a bicycle safety enforcement operation July 22, 2019 through July 31, 2019 aimed at educating drivers and bicyclists on using roadways safely.

Officers will be looking for violations made by drivers and bicyclists, like failing to yield, speeding, improper turning, riding a bike on the wrong side of the road, not complying with stops and signals, or any other dangerous violation.

The annual Teen Action Committee Barbecue fundraiser was held on June 20, 2019. For over 20 years Johnny Thompson, a former City of Ontario employee has been using his talents to mentor teens and raise money for the Teen Action Committee and Youth Empowerment Scholarship program. Both are part of the Community Life & Culture Agency’s programming and are designed to engage, empower and educate the youth and teens in Ontario.

ONTARIO, CA – The City of Ontario is mourning the loss of retired Fire Chief Robert Elwell, who passed away last Thursday evening.

Elwell, who served as Ontario’s Fire Chief from 2016 until his retirement last December, dedicated more than 30 years of service to the city. He began his career with Ontario as a Firefighter in 1985, working his way up the ranks to Fire Engineer, Fire Captain and Battalion Chief before being appointed to the top spot.

Elwell died suddenly last Thursday at his home in Rancho Cucamonga. He was 55 years old.
