Cooling Centers

Find your local Cooling Center!

Cooling centers are available in Ontario when temperatures reach 97°F or higher, providing a safe place to cool down during extreme heat. When activated, cooling centers offer air-conditioned spaces, seating, and complimentary ice water (where available).

The Westwind Community Center and The Ovitt Family Community Library are also pet-friendly cooling centers. If you plan to bring a pet, you'll need to complete the Cooling Center Pet Owner Guidelines form before entering. Please note that the library does not provide bottled water, but water bottle filling stations are available.

If the Ovitt Family Community Library is activated as an emergency cooling center on a Sunday or City holiday, when regular library services are unavailable, the lobby area will be open. Visitors will have access to the meeting room (where family-friendly movies are typically shown), public restrooms, and the water bottle filling station.
