The O.Y.A.L. program is an opportunity for Ontario youth to experience lasting positive relationships through mentors. The program has two components, sports and excursions. A selected sport is chosen to teach fundamentals, sportsmanship, and etiquette over the course of the session. Our excursions are chosen on a rotational basis to expose participants to multiple categories with an emphasis on Education, Theatre, Aviation, History & Art. Past excursions included Skull Canyon Zip Line, California Science Center and the Lewis Family Playhouse.
The new year kicks off with Futsal. This is a fast-paced sport, played with a hard ball on a hard surface the size of a tennis court. Futsal is played between two teams of five players each, one of who is the goalkeeper, in many way's mirrors soccer. This session will begin January 9 and run for 7 weeks.
Our Sports excursions feature the Ontario Fury for a Clinic and Game on Saturday, February 1, 2020 and a Ontario Reign hockey game on Saturday, March 14, 2020. Both these excursions will require registration, for more information please contact the Recreation and Community Services Department at (909) 395-2020.
The Ontario Youth Activities League (OYAL) is hosting Futsal at De Anza Park for OYAL participants every Thursday until February 20 between 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. This activity is coached by Recreation staff to teach the fundamentals, skills, and rules of Futsal. This is a quick pace game of soccer played on a converted tennis court that is fun and exciting.
To kick off the new year, OYAL is partnering with the Ontario Fury for a soccer clinic on February 1 between the hours of 3:00 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. at the Toyota Arena. This is a great opportunity for youth to learn from some of the great soccer players on the Ontario Fury indoor soccer team. Registration for the event is open, please visit www.OntarioCA.gov/Registration.
