The Ontario Police Department has arrested Lawrence Langston in connection with a shooting that occurred earlier this month at Colony High School.

On October 1, 2022, shortly after 10:45 AM, officers from the Ontario Police Department responded to Colony High School reference the report of a shooting. Upon arrival,
officers discovered an adult male with multiple life-threatening gunshot wounds. The male was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

The Ontario Police Department encourages parents and students to join their classmates and walk, bike, or roll to class Oct. 12.

“Walk and Roll to School Day” is celebrated annually to highlight the benefits of exercise and practice pedestrian and road safety with other students, families, and caregivers.

The Ontario Police Department will increase patrols throughout the community and provide other traffic safety programs to help reduce the number of serious injuries and deaths on roads. 

“This grant funding allows us to support our ongoing traffic safety efforts in the community,” Ontario Police Department Chief Mike Lorenz said. “Our intent is to stop the most unlawful and dangerous behaviors that put people at risk and create an environment where everyone feels safe traveling.”

On September 28, 2022, at 1:22 PM, Ontario Police Officers were dispatched to a domestic disturbance at a home in the 900 North block of Humboldt Ave. Upon arriving, officers located an adult male, later identified as Allen Kao, 50 years old, inside a parked vehicle. Kao was armed with a knife and was uncooperative with officers. Kao claimed he had killed a female victim.

Officers located an unresponsive adult female inside the home. She was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment and was later pronounced deceased. The victim’s information is not available… Read More

Ontario, Calif. – During Child Passenger Safety Week, the Ontario Police Department will help parents and caregivers with installing child safety seats.

“We are here to offer parents and caregivers guidance and reassurances that their child is as safe in a car seat as possible while riding in the car,” Ontario Police Chief Mike Lorenz said.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), nearly half of car seats (46%) are misused.

September is Pedestrian Safety Month, and the Ontario Police Department will participate in activities throughout the month encouraging the safety of people walking.

Based on data projections from the Governors Highway Safety Association (GHSA), 7,485 people, or an average of 20 people every day, died after being struck by a vehicle last year – an 11.5% increase from 2020 and a 40-year high.
