The Ontario Police Department Traffic Unit will be conducting a DUI/Driver’s License Checkpoint on Friday, July 8, 2016, at an undisclosed location within the city limits between the hours of 6:00p.m. to 2:00a.m. The deterrent effect of DUI checkpoints is a proven resource in reducing the number of persons killed and injured in alcohol or drug involved crashes. Research shows that crashes involving an impaired driver can be reduced by up to 20 percent when well-publicized DUI checkpoints and proactive DUI patrols are conducted routinely.

Every year Americans head out on our nation’s highways to celebrate the Fourth of July at picnics, parties, parades and more. Officers from the Ontario Police Department’s DUI Enforcement Team will be deploying this weekend to stop and arrest alcohol and drug-impaired drivers in the department’s ongoing traffic safety campaign. DUI Saturation Patrols will deploy on Friday, July 1, 2016 between the hours of 6 p.m. and 2 a.m. in areas with high frequencies of DUI collisions and / or arrest.
