The Ontario Police Department reminds everyone taking a trip to visit friends or family over the Memorial Day Weekend to always buckle up and keep children in child safety seats.

This year’s Click it or Ticket campaign is from May 23-June 5. During this time, the Ontario Police Department will have additional officers on patrol actively looking for drivers and passengers who are not wearing a seat belt. This includes vehicles where children are not secured in child safety seats.

Kids to Parks Day is a national day of outdoor play celebrated annually on the third Saturday of May in partnership with the National Park Trust.  The National Park Trust is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization with a mission to “preserve parks today and create park stewards for tomorrow.”  The day connects kids and families with their local, state, and national parks and public lands through thousands of park events that promote discovery and exploration in the great outdoors.

The Ontario Police Department has arrested Samuel Felipe in connection with a shooting that occurred yesterday during a robbery.

On May 16, 2022, shortly after 2:00 PM, officers from the Ontario Police Department responded to the 300 block of North Mountain Ave. reference the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers discovered an adult male with an apparent non-life-threatening gunshot wound. The male was transported to a local hospital in stable condition.

The Ontario Police Department would like to thank the West Covina Police Department for their assistance in the apprehension of two theft suspects.

On May 7, 2022, the Ontario Police Department received notification of a commercial burglary in the 400 block of N. Sequoia Avenue in which two suspects stole multiple catalytic converters, personal belongings, and a vehicle. In addition, while leaving the area the suspects drove through a gate causing approximately $10,000 in damage.

May is National Bicycle Safety Month, and the Ontario Police Department reminds drivers to follow the speed limit and look out for people on bike rides.

“The days are longer, and the weather is pleasant, making for ideal conditions to go on a bike ride,” Ontario Police Chief Mike Lorenz said. “Drivers, please share the road so we may all get places safely.”
