Ontario Police Officers have arrested Philbert Hernandez, a 72-year-old male, in connection with numerous child molestations spanning several decades.

On May 23, 2022, the Ontario Police Department investigated Hernandez as the named suspect in several child molestation cases that occurred at multiple residences in the City of Ontario. This initial investigation led to the identification of additional victims and incidents.

Ontario’s Mayor and City Council on Tuesday night unanimously appointed Debra Porada to serve as Mayor pro Tem, for a two-year term, through 2024.

The Ontario Police Department will hold a DUI Checkpoint on December 19th from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. at an undisclosed location within Ontario city limits.

Checkpoint locations are chosen based on a history of DUI crashes and arrests. The primary purpose of checkpoints is not to make arrests, but to promote public safety by deterring drivers from driving impaired.

During the checkpoint, officers will look for signs that drivers are under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.

With a commitment to keeping the community safe, the Ontario Police Department wants to remind the public of the dangers of driving impaired and celebrate the holiday season responsibly by not driving under the influence.

From Dec. 14 through New Year’s Day, the Ontario Police Department will have additional officers on patrol looking for drivers suspected of being under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. The Ontario Economic Development Department launched its first-ever Downtown Retail Pop-up Program. The Downtown Retail Pop-up Program calls for two (2) qualified small businesses looking to grow into brick-and-mortar stores. The program will bolster the downtown retail sector by providing selected applicants with technical support in obtaining permits, marketing assistance, introductions to the Downtown Ontario Improvement Association (DOIA), and the opportunity to test the local market.

At 9:46 a.m., the Ontario Fire Department received a call from the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department’s HOPE team who reported multiple homeless individuals in the riverbed at 1200 E. 4th Street who needed rescue. The Ontario Fire Department and Ontario Police Department responded to the scene where they determined 6 homeless individuals were missing.
