The collision occurred on Monday, July 5, 2021 at 11:13 AM on Riverside Drive, east of Euclid Avenue. Two pedestrians, who are local fruit vendors, were crossing northbound across Riverside Drive when the suspect vehicle collided with them and their fruit cart. One of the pedestrians was pronounced deceased on scene and the second pedestrian was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.

On June 20th, 2021, members of the Ontario / Upland Police Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Taskforce served a search warrant in the 1600 block of N. Hacienda Drive. The City of Ontario is partnering with its residents to combat illegal fireworks in the community, and will host a fireworks takeback event on Saturday, June 19.
From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. that day, residents can drop off fireworks at Fire Station 3, 1408 E. Francis St. Drop offs can be done anonymously.
The abatement event comes two weeks before the Fourth of July and three months after a fireworks explosion killed two people and caused millions of dollars of damage to an Ontario neighborhood.

The City of Ontario has secured more than $35 million in funding for energy infrastructure improvements–an infrastructure renewal program that is projected to save the City more than $75 million over the life of its new equipment.
