On July 21, 2016, at 9:33pm, Ontario Police received a call of shooting that occurred on the grounds of Chaffey High School near 4th Street. Officers arrived and found a 16-year-old male with a gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital where he is listed in serious condition.

The City of Ontario is pleased to announce the next citywide yard (garage) sale weekend is August 5, 6, and 7, 2016 (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday). If rainy conditions exist on that Friday or Saturday, an alternate yard sale may be held on August 12, 13, and 14, 2016 (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday). The final yard sale weekend of 2016 will be November 4, 5, and 6.

The City of Ontario declared that the Senate’s approval of legislation that expedites the transfer of Ontario International Airport (ONT) affirms the city’s diligent efforts to pursue return of the Inland Empire’s No. 1 economic engine to local control. The City commended and thanked the U.S. House and Senate for passing the legislation and sending it to President Obama who is expected to sign it into law within days. 

Volunteers are an integral part of the Ontario Museum of History & Art. Since the Museum’s inception in 1979, volunteers have been a vital force in forging bonds between the Museum and the community. The Ontario Museum of History & Art will honor its volunteers, including those receiving special awards, at the Volunteer Celebration and Recognition to be held on Saturday, July 23, 2016 from 2 PM to 4 PM.

The Ontario Police Department Traffic Unit will be conducting a DUI/Driver’s License Checkpoint on Friday, July 8, 2016, at an undisclosed location within the city limits between the hours of 6:00p.m. to 2:00a.m. The deterrent effect of DUI checkpoints is a proven resource in reducing the number of persons killed and injured in alcohol or drug involved crashes. Research shows that crashes involving an impaired driver can be reduced by up to 20 percent when well-publicized DUI checkpoints and proactive DUI patrols are conducted routinely.
