On July 16, 2024, the Ontario City Council approved the Joint Powers Agreement (JPA) to establish the West-End Animal Services Agency (WEASA), DBA Animal Resource Center of the Inland Empire (ARC).
For several years, the City of Ontario has contracted with the Inland Valley Humane Society (IVHS) to provide animal services. This contract will end on June 30, 2025.
As a result, the City of Ontario partnered with the City of Chino to establish WEAS, which will be a full-service animal services agency providing both animal control and sheltering services to member agencies.

ARC Board Updates
The application for the Friends of ARC, 501(c)3 Board of Directors has now closed. Applications will be scored and forwarded to the ARC board of directors for their final recommendations. Their recommendations will be finalized during the October 7th, 2025, ARC board meeting.
