The Planning Department plays a critical role in achieving the City Council's goals and objectives relative to land use, urban design, and the quality and sustainability of the built environment. Our team focuses on development that enhances economic value, quality of life, and complete community.

The Ontario Plan 2050 | Policy & Land Use Amendments

What updates are being considered?

The City of Ontario is evaluating proposed changes to The Ontario Plan to address property owner requests, comply with state laws, and consider associated environmental impacts. More than 1,600 acres are being evaluated for land use and housing policy changes. In addition, revisions to truck routes are being studied. Changes are primarily focused in southern Ontario.
