Adopted Environmental Impact Reports
What Are EIRs?
EIRs (Environmental Impact Reports) are documents that explain how a proposed project might affect the environment. They look at potential impacts on things like air quality, traffic, wildlife, noise, and more. EIRs also suggest ways to reduce or avoid these impacts.
Why Are They Important?
EIRs help decision-makers, local residents, and businesses understand how new projects could change their neighborhoods. By sharing clear information and proposing solutions, EIRs help protect our environment and quality of life.
What Does This List of Projects Represent?
This list shows various proposals or ongoing projects for the City of Ontario. Each entry has undergone or will undergo an EIR process to ensure everyone understands its potential effects. This allows the community, city leaders, and other agencies to give input and make well-informed decisions.
What Laws Govern EIRs?
In California, EIRs are typically required by the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). CEQA sets rules for when and how environmental studies should be done, making sure that significant impacts are carefully considered before projects move forward. Some projects may also follow federal laws, such as the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), but CEQA is the main state law that guides the EIR process.
