About Us

The Ontario City Library has been serving the public as a City department since 1894. The Ovitt Family Community Library and Lewis Family Branches of the Library contain over 315,000 items, including books, magazines, DVDs, audio books, and a local history collection.

A wide variety of technology is available for the public including internet, several softwares, eBooks,  and state of the art technology through Lightspeed makerspace that offers access to equipment such as 3D printers and a laser cutter.

We offer programs and services for all ages including early literacy, a Veterans Resource Center, adult literacy tutoring, workforce training, and the Robert E. Ellingwood Model Colony History Room.

Mission

We empower, enrich, and welcome our diverse community with access to information, inclusive resources, compassionate and engaged staff and inspired learning.

Vision

Reaching every corner of the city, we evolve to support the community's needs while remaining dedicated to expanding literacy, encouraging exploration, and building knowledge and skills.

Facilities Master Plan

Libraries are more than just places to borrow books; they’re vibrant hubs where neighbors connect, children discover the joy of reading, and everyone can access valuable resources. As Ontario grows and evolves, we want our libraries to do the same—becoming friendly, accessible, and innovative spaces that truly serve our community’s needs. That’s why we’ve created this Master Plan, which outlines our future space and facility needs based on your input. You can download the full plan to see how we aim to enhance our library services for everyone in Ontario!
