Success starts at home! Early learning is crucial for healthy child development. Through the Little Learners, Big Futures initiative we support parents and caregivers of children ages 0 – 5 with programs, services and materials for our youngest community members and their families.
Little Learners, Big Futures – online
Our online program offers parents and caregivers guided activities to support early learning and brain development at home. Children can register to earn books, collectible activity cards and supplies! As they grow, new activities and supplies are available up to age five. Raising Little Learners
Join research-backed workshops to build early literacy fun with the Every Child Ready to Read® curriculum. Learn five key techniques – talking, singing, reading, writing and playing – and receive materials, book recommendations and engaging ideas for teaching numbers, letters, shapes, science and art. 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten – online
Encourage your child to reach the goal of 1,000 books before kindergarten! Track reading and earn milestone prizes for every 100 books, with a special prize at 1,000. To register, please visit your local Ontario City Library or OntarioCA.Beanstack.org.
Little Learner Academy
Little Learner Academy offers interactive story times with reading, singing, movement and play, building early learning skills in a welcoming library space. Books & Other Library Materials
We offer collections specially designed for little learners and their caregivers.
The board book collection is filled with strong, durable books perfect for little learners 0 – 24 months. Made of a durable material that allows little learners to easily turn the pages. Many of these books have early learning concepts, textured pages and high contrast images to engage even the youngest babies! Board books can be found in English and Spanish.
The early literacy collection consists of picture books that highlight early learning concepts such as the alphabet, numbers, shapes, colors and other concepts. These engaging stories are perfect for preparing little learners for school.
The parenting collection is geared toward parents and caregivers, this collection offers resources on a wide range of topics, from potty training to emotional support for teens. Parenting books are available in English and Spanish.
The Playaway Launchpad collection are durable tablets that make learning fun! Each launchpad is preloaded with activities or games that teach a subject like math, science, early literacy and language arts. Launchpads are labeled with suggested age ranges so parents and caregivers can easily find subjects for their little learners.
