Immigration Resources
About
At the July 1, 2025 meeting of the Ontario City Council, the Ontario community voiced their concerns about recent ICE activity in our community. As a result, the Mayor and City Council directed staff to develop an informative public outreach campaign to provide a space where the community can find accurate information on immigration resources and City policies.
City Facility Guidelines
ICE agents can enter the facility like any member of the public. However, if they want to go beyond public areas or conduct searches, Ontario City employees have been instructed to
- ask for identification, including the name and badge number of ICE agents;
- ask for a signed warrant;
- When presented with the warrant, staff are instructed to take a photo or scan the warrant, ask the agents to wait, and forward the warrant to supervisors.
- If they do not have a warrant signed by a federal judge, employees will not authorize to their consent of a search
- and get the name(s) of any person(s) taken into custody (if possible).
Ontario Police Department Immigration Policy
All members of the OPD are committed to the safety of the public. Confidence in this commitment ensures the OPD protects and serves the entire community and recognizes the dignity of all persons, regardless of their national origin or immigration status.
