Crime Suppression Unit

A Crime Suppression Unit (CSU) is a unit which focuses on improving quality of life and public safety.

The primary focus of these officers is to address the increase in crime with the unhoused population within the city. The City has seen an increase in crime from, and between, the unhoused population. When they aren’t focusing on this issue, they focus their attention on gun, narcotics, and gang related crimes within the city.

These officers work with representatives from County Probation, Social Services, and Mercy House (our local resource for unhoused persons) on a regular basis.

Members of the Crime Suppression Unit regularly utilize, and educate citizens, on the use of mobile applications available to them to identify issues related to the unhoused population. They also work with local businesses to address continual problems in and around their businesses.
