Real Time Information Center (RTIC)
Smarter Technology. Faster Response. A Safer Ontario.
The Ontario Police Department’s Real Time Information Center (RTIC) is transforming the way officers respond to emergencies, investigate incidents, and protect the community.
As one of the Police Department’s newest divisions, the RTIC brings together real-time information from police cameras, databases, drone technology, and other public safety resources into one centralized operation. This gives responding officers greater situational awareness and critical information when it matters most.
By providing officers with a clearer picture of an incident before and during their response, the RTIC helps Ontario Police:
- Respond more quickly and efficiently to calls for service
- Deploy personnel and resources where they are needed most
- Provide officers with valuable information before they arrive on scene
- Support investigations with timely data and intelligence
- Improve safety for officers, residents, businesses, and visitors
Drone as First Responder
An important component of the RTIC is the Ontario Police Department’s Drone as First Responder (DFR) Program.
When certain emergency calls are received, a drone can be deployed to the area to provide officers with a live aerial view of the scene, often before responding personnel arrive. This allows officers to better understand what is happening, determine what resources may be needed, and make more informed decisions as an incident unfolds.
Drone technology can assist with emergencies, searches, active incidents, and other critical situations where quickly gathering accurate information can help improve the response.
Enhancing Public Safety Through Innovation
The RTIC combines proven policing practices with advanced technology, data analysis, and local partnerships to strengthen first responder operations and enhance situational awareness.
Its mission is to use these resources responsibly to improve the safety and quality of life of the Ontario community while helping officers respond more effectively to the situations they encounter every day.
Through investments like the Real Time Information Center, the City of Ontario continues to provide its Police Department with modern tools and resources that support a safer, stronger community.
