Canine Division

Welcome to the Ontario Police Department Canine Division. Our dedicated team of highly trained canine handlers and their canine partners work tirelessly to ensure the safety and security of our community and the Ontario International Airport.  

The Canine Division consists of two specialized units:  

- Patrol Canines: These versatile dogs are trained to assist officers in daily patrol duties, including suspect apprehension, tracking, evidence recovery, and officer protection. With their keen senses and specialized skills, our patrol canines play an integral role in enhancing public safety and crime prevention.  

- Explosive Detection Canines: Stationed at the Ontario International Airport, these elite canines are trained to detect a wide range of explosives. They provide critical support in ensuring the safety of travelers, employees, and airport facilities. Their expertise is essential for rapid, accurate response to potential threats.
