Multi-Enforcement Team
The Ontario Police Department's Multi-Enforcement Team (MET) is a highly specialized unit with a primary focus on high-risk fugitive apprehensions. Composed of 10 full-time SWAT team members, MET is responsible for tracking down and capturing dangerous fugitives who are attempting to evade law enforcement. Their role extends beyond fugitive apprehension, responding to critical incidents that demand advanced tactical skills. MET's personnel are equipped to handle situations where fugitives pose significant threats to public safety or law enforcement.
In addition to fugitive apprehension, MET members are often called upon for a variety of high-risk operations. These include executing warrants for violent crimes, handling barricade situations, rescuing hostages, managing active shooter scenarios, providing dignitary protection, and responding to other critical incidents. The unit is also responsible for training new officers in tactics as well as providing Advance Officer Training to the entire department. MET personnel are available for any special assignment requested by the police chief.
Personnel assigned to MET undergo rigorous, advanced-level training and certification in specialized duties. This ongoing training ensures they are fully prepared to address complex problems and high-risk situations. As dedicated public servants, MET plays a crucial role in safeguarding the Ontario community and supporting law enforcement's efforts to combat violent crime and protect public safety.
