What is a Police Explorer?
A Police Explorer is a young adult who has a desire to learn about law enforcement as a career through firsthand experience. An Explorer has the opportunity to learn all aspects and functions of the Police Department.
CAREER PREPARATION Learn how to prepare yourself to be competitive in a very aggressively sought after career by leaders in Law Enforcement and previous Explorers who are now working at the Ontario Police Department.
As an Explorer you will work numerous details, including checkpoints, traffic control, and community events. Explorers receive training by the Ontario Police S.W.A.T. team, the K-9 unit, Forensics, and other divisions within the police department. Explorers are allowed to ride along with Officers, with the Air Support unit, the K-9 unit, and the Gang unit.
PROGRAM AREAS OF EMPHASIS Engage in activities centered around areas to encourage the development of the whole person.

How Do I Support The Police Explorer Program?
The Explorer Program is a 501(c)(3) charity and is primarily funded through community support and donations. For more information on how to support the young leaders of tomorrow email Det. Randy Roman for more information.
How Do I Become a Police Explorer?
The minimum qualifications to be a Police Explorer require that participants must:
- 14 to 20 years of age
- Minimum of 2.0 GPA
- Good moral character
- Pass a physical agility test
- Pass a background check

Explorer Post #350 meets every Thursday from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Ontario Police Department
