National Night Out 

National Night Out (NNO) is an annual community-building campaign that strengthens the bond between law enforcement and the neighborhoods they serve. It’s all about fostering safer, more connected communities through partnership, trust, and engagement.

Held on the first Tuesday in August, National Night Out brings together millions of neighbors across all 50 states, U.S. territories, and military bases around the world. Communities celebrate with block parties, festivals, parades, cookouts, and a variety of family-friendly events that include safety demonstrations, youth activities, emergency personnel visits, and more.

This event is more than a night of fun—it’s an opportunity to:

• Reconnect with neighbors and community partners
• Build relationships with local law enforcement and first responders
• Learn about local resources and public safety initiatives
• Promote open dialogue and mutual respect
