Chaplain Program
Police Chaplains are spiritual leaders who provide emotional and spiritual support to law enforcement officers, staff, their families, and victims of crime. Police Chaplains often are brought in to assist with emotionally stressful situations.
Police chaplains can:
- Assist with death notifications
- Support victims of crime
- Respond to suicide incidents
- Part of the crisis response team
- Assist with homeless outreach
Chaplain Requirements
Candidates for the Chaplain Program shall meet the following requirements:
- Must be above reproach, temperate, prudent, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, not be addicted to alcohol or other drugs, not contentious, and free from excessive debt. Must manage their household, family, and personal affairs well. Must have a good reputation with those outside the church.
- Must be ecclesiastically certified and/or endorsed, ordained, licensed, or commissioned by a recognized religious body.
- Must successfully complete an appropriate level background investigation.
- Be active in the pastorate within their denomination within the greater Fontana area.
- Possess a valid California Driver's License.
