CIP

The Capital Improvement Program (CIP) of the Engineering Department has the primary responsibility for streets, sidewalks, storm drain, utility relocation, and grade separation improvement projects throughout the City. The division provides the planning, design, surveying, bidding, construction inspection, and project management functions for City-sponsored CIP projects.

 

Highlights:

  • Maintain over 1,200 lane miles of pavement within the City in conjunction with the City of Ontario Public Works Agency.
  • Rehabilitate existing street pavements, sidewalks, handicap ramps, curb and gutter, and related appurtenances throughout the City.
  • Repair or construct storm drain improvements at various locations throughout the City.
  • Provide engineering contract management for all construction work with the public right-of-way.

The City of Ontario Pavement Rehabilitation and Street Maintenance projects use Asphalt Rubber Hot Mix (ARHM) and Rubberized Chip Seal. Both provide for longer street life in addition to utilizing recycled tires, which helps keep discarded tires out of our streams and landfills.

FY 2024/2025 - 34,000 tires recycled (projected)
