Traffic & Transportation

The Traffic & Transportation Division of the Engineering Department ensures the safe efficient movement of people and goods within the public right-of-way.  It achieves this by planning, designing and implementing transportation infrastructure improvements and operating and maintaining the City’s traffic signal system.

Ontario Community Circulator Transit Planning Study (Internal Circulator)

Project Overview
The City of Ontario is exploring new local transit options designed to better connect residents, businesses, and visitors to key destinations across our growing community. As Ontario continues to expand, convenient and reliable transportation plays an important role in supporting economic development, improving mobility, and enhancing quality of life.

This study will evaluate potential transit solutions that could improve how people move throughout the city, including connections to major employment centers, shopping and dining districts, parks, schools, and regional transportation hubs. The goal is to identify options that make it easier for residents and visitors to travel within Ontario while supporting a more connected and accessible community.

Project Timeline
The transit study is expected to be completed in 2026. Throughout the planning process, the City will provide opportunities for community members, businesses, and stakeholders to share their ideas and feedback. Public input will play an important role in shaping potential transit options and helping the City understand how people currently travel and where improved connections are most needed.

Share Your Input
Community feedback is essential to this effort. We invite you to take a short survey and share your thoughts on how local transit could better serve Ontario. Your input will help guide future planning and ensure that proposed solutions reflect the needs and priorities of our community.
