KinderGo

KinderGo is an annual program designed to enhance educational awareness through city-wide library card distribution to Ontario’s kindergarten students. This program gives kindergarten students and families a personal invite to the library to ensure they are introduced to the services offered to them at the start of their child’s educational experience.

Kindergarten students in Ontario schools in the Ontario-Montclair School District, Mountain View School District, Chino Valley Unified School District and Cucamonga School District are visited by city staff. During the classroom visits city staff share a fun read-aloud story and provide students with a KinderGo bag, wallet and library card.

Students with KinderGo library cards are encouraged to visit their local Ontario City Library to activate their library card and foster a love of reading by checking out books! For more information, please call the Ovitt Family Community Library Children’s Reference Desk at (909) 395-2207 or the Lewis Family Branch Information Desk at (909) 395-2256.

Ontario Reads

Ontario Reads

The Ontario City Library provides meaningful literacy experiences to our community.  Modeled after the American Library’s Association’s “One Book, One Community” project, Ontario Reads is an annual event that connects the library and the community by reading, sharing and discussing the same book. This year the library is pleased to announce that Crying in H Mart, by Michelle Zauner, has been chosen as the selection for Ontario Reads. It is a deeply moving memoir of family, food and loss that will resonate with anyone who has experienced the pain of losing a loved one. In addition to being a celebrated author, Michelle Zauner is also an accomplished singer and songwriter, performing under the moniker Japanese Breakfast.

Join us for Ontario Reads beginning on September 1, 2023, by checking out a copy of the book (or e-book) using your library card. Readers are invited to share their thoughts and impressions of Crying in H Mart by participating in specially themed programs and events that will be held at both branches of the library.
