Child Endangerment

July 10, 2018

On Sunday, July 8, 2018, Ontario Police arrested Crystal Gonzales for child endangerment at the Wal-Mart, located at 1333 N Mountain Ave.

Police were called to the scene reference two young children locked inside a vehicle at approximately 7:44 PM. Upon arrival, they discovered two young children (age 1 year and 9 months) were locked inside a white GMC in distress, due to high temperatures. When police arrived they discovered the vehicle was not running and the air conditioning was turned off.

Officers and the Fire personnel were able to safely remove both children from the car. Both children were medically evaluated at the scene and released to Child Protective Services.

It appears Gonzales may have left the children unattended in the car for more than 30 minutes. Officers located her as she exited the store and placed her under arrest. She has been formally charged with PC 273(a), Child Endangerment and was booked at the West Valley Detention Center.

Police would like to remind residents that leaving an infant or toddler unattended in a vehicle at any time is a violation of the law. Doing so during these extreme temperatures can cause serious injury or death.
