Ontario’s Mayor and City Council invite members of the community to attend this year’s National Night Out event on Tuesday, August 7, 2018.
Ontario residents and businesses will join over 38 million people across the nation in this year's 35th Annual National Night Out sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch. Ontario consistently ranks among the most active communities for National Night Out participation.
“Ontario’s award-winning National Night Out shows our City’s commitment to building a safer community,” said Mayor Paul S. Leon. “One of the City Council’s goals is enhance the already high-quality public safety in Ontario,” he continued.
The festivities will begin with the “Party in the Park” at 5 PM at the Dorothy A. Quesada Community Center located at 1010 S. Bon View Avenue in Ontario. The Party in the Park event is open to the public and will have entertainment, food, and children’s games. Public safety and community service booths will also be present with information about Ontario’s Neighborhood Watch program.
Mayor pro Tem Alan D. Wapner said, “Ontario Night Out provides our police and fire departments an opportunity to meet and interact with residents in their neighborhoods, allowing everyone to become familiar with the men and women who protect our city, as well as seeing our state-of-the-art police and fire vehicles. As a retired police officer for Ontario having overseen the Ontario Night Out program for several years, it continues to be one of my favorite events each year as it gives a chance for everyone to connect.”
Neighborhoods throughout Ontario will also be hosting their own block parties to celebrate their unity, police-community partnerships, crime prevention awareness and community involvement. Participants will have the opportunity to meet and interact with Ontario’s Mayor and City Council, representatives from regional agencies, including American Medical Response, the California Army National Guard, the California Highway Patrol, the Inland Valley Humane Society, as well as various City agencies including the Ontario Police and Fire Departments.

Council Member Debra Dorst-Porada adds, “Ontario Night Out is a fantastic opportunity for our community to come together and promote safety. We have to be resilient and ready for anything, and our City’s strong civic engagement is really shown on this one night.”
