Ontario Police Detectives arrested a suspect who is believed to have committed numerous acts of child molestation on a family member. The suspect, Ernesto Santos, was arrested today in the 1000 block of North Mountain Avenue in the City of Ontario. Santos is a 49-year-old male from the City of Ontario. He has been booked on numerous charges of lewd and lascivious acts with a child under the age of 14. He is currently being held at the West Valley Detention Center on $500,000 bail. The City of Ontario is pleased to announce the next citywide yard (garage) sale weekend is August 3, 4, and 5, 2018 (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday). If rainy conditions exist on that Friday or Saturday, an alternate yard sale may be held on August 10, 11, and 12, 2018 (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday). In 2010, the City adopted a yard sale ordinance giving residents the opportunity to hold more sales each year on fixed dates and eliminating the need for yard sale permits and fees. The Ontario Police Department Traffic Unit will be conducting a DUI/Driver’s License Checkpoint on July 13, 2018 at an undisclosed location within the city limits between the hours of 6:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. In recent years, California has seen a disturbing increase in drug-impaired driving crashes. Mayor Paul Leon and the City Council praised the Ontario Police Department and the staff of the Ontario Mills Mall for their swift, safe and effective coordination of an evacuation of the mall following a disturbance on Saturday, July 7. Police are still investigating the incident, which apparently involved a Taser weapon being fired during a fight. The mall was evacuated and the situation contained.
