Critical Incident Community Briefing 12/14/19

October 16, 2020

On Saturday, December 14, 2019, at approximately 2:37 AM, Ontario Police Dispatch received a 911 call from a male who stated he was bleeding and in need of medical attention at his home, in the 1300 block of East F St. He also told Dispatch, his wife and two children were at the residence, and that she was bleeding as well. Officers arrived and contacted the male victim at the front door. As officers spoke to the victim, it was clear he was suffering from a gunshot wound and needed immediate medical attention. The victim began to exit the house, telling officers his wife was armed with a handgun. Officers saw the female suspect, later identified as Christine Robles, in the hallway behind the victim pointing her handgun at him and the officers. At that time, an officer involved shooting occurred. Robles remained in the home and officers evacuated the victim to a place of safety to receive emergency medical care, while they notified Police Dispatch of the shooting. SWAT and Crisis Response Teams responded to assist with negotiations. However, after a 5-hour stand-off, officers made entry into the house and discovered Robles and both children, in a bedroom located on the southwest side of the home, deceased from apparent gunshot wounds.
