The City of Ontario is pleased to announce the next citywide yard (garage) sale weekend is Friday, November 6, 2020, through Sunday, November 8, 2020. If rainy conditions exist on that Friday or Saturday, an alternate yard sale may be held on November 13, 14 and 15, 2020.

On Saturday, December 14, 2019, at approximately 2:37 AM, Ontario Police Dispatch received a 911 call from a male who stated he was bleeding and in need of medical attention at his home, in the 1300 block of East F St. He also told Dispatch, his wife and two children were at the residence, and that she was bleeding as well. Officers arrived and contacted the male victim at the front door. As officers spoke to the victim, it was clear he was suffering from a gunshot wound and needed immediate medical attention. The City of Ontario Recreation & Community Services Department is currently developing a Recreation & Parks Master Plan that will provide a vision for the Recreation & Community Services and Parks Department for the next decade.  The Department has commissioned a survey to assess community needs on existing parks and recreation facilities.  Community input is an important part of this process and feedback will be used to help guide decisions.

Michael Lorenz, a 22-year veteran of the Ontario Police Department who moved up the ranks from patrol officer to deputy chief, has been unanimously confirmed as the City’s new police chief, effective immediately.

Chief Lorenz, who joined the department in 1998 after graduating from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department academy, has worked a variety of assignments during his tenure, including narcotics, gang violence suppression, field training and SWAT.

Lewis Family Branch Library reopened for limited services on Tuesday, September 8, 2020.  The library is open by appointment only, patrons can make an appointment online at OntarioCA.gov/Library.  Temporary operating hours are Monday and Tuesday 10 AM – 1 PM, Wednesday and Thursday 2 PM – 6 PM. Library staff are excited to welcome back our community after being closed through the summer due to Chaffey High School District HVAC maintenance, painting and rug replacement.

The City of Ontario today announces that the Ontario Promise Corps program has received $392,000 in AmeriCorps funding from the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS), the federal agency responsible for AmeriCorps and other national service programs.
