The City of Ontario is pleased to announce the next citywide yard (garage) sale weekend is November 3, 4, and 5, 2017 (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday). If rainy conditions exist on that Friday or Saturday, an alternate yard sale may be held on November 10, 11, and 12, 2017 (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday). This will be the last citywide yard sale for 2017. The first yard sale weekend of 2018 will be February 2, 3 and 4.

On Friday, October 13, 2017, the Ontario Police Department arrested Dalen Ware for the murder of Julia Jacobson.

Ms. Jacobson was originally reported as a missing person on September 2, 2017, to the San Diego Police Department. Investigators from the San Diego Police Department (SDPD) conducted an extensive search for Ms. Jacobson, which eventually led them to the City of Ontario. On Tuesday, October 24, from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM, the Ovitt Family Community Library will host the world’s foremost expert on horror literature, Les Klinger. The author and literary historian will speak in the Library’s main meeting room about Mary Shelley’s classic gothic novel, Frankenstein, or The Modern Prometheus, and why we still read and enjoy it 200 years after it was first published.

This weekend marks the 16th anniversary date of the brutal murder of Griselda Sandoval.

Rodolfo "Rudy" Fernandez is wanted for allegedly brutally beating and shooting to death his estranged girlfriend, Griselda Sandoval. The incident happened on October 7th, 2001, in Ontario, California. According to reports Rudy was in a jealous rage and stalked Griselda at a medical office located at 59 S. Milliken Ave. where she worked. It was later determined that Griselda was beaten, shot, and left partially clothed on the floor. Griselda was killed two weeks short of her 20th birthday… Read More

The Ontario Police Department will be conducting an active shooter drill at Chaffey High School this Friday, October 6, 2017, between the hours of 10:00am and 11:00am.

During this training drill Ontario Police SWAT Team members will be using flash-bang explosions and blank gunfire to simulate an active shooter on campus.

This drill has been planned and scheduled months in advance and is not in response to the Las Vegas shooting.

This drill is part of the comprehensive School Safety Plan mandated by State Assembly Bill 58.
