Capital Improvement Program (CIP)

The Capital Improvement Program (CIP)/Field Services Division of the Engineering Department has the primary responsibility for streets, sidewalks, storm drain, utility relocation, and grade separation improvement projects throughout the City. The division provides the planning, design, surveying, bidding, construction inspection, and project management functions for City-sponsored CIP projects.

The division staff is dedicated to delivering projects for the benefit of all the citizens of Ontario. Our mission statement is: “To plan, design, and manage construction projects that provide lasting value to the community.”

The work includes the following:

  • maintaining over 1,200 lane miles of pavement within the City in conjunction with the City of Ontario Public Works Agency;
  • rehabilitating existing street pavements, sidewalks, handicap ramps, curb and gutter, and related appurtenances throughout the City;
  • repairing or constructing storm drain improvements at various locations throughout the City;
  • providing engineering contract management and field services support all construction work with the Public Right-of-Way.

ATP 5 - Vine Avenue & B Street Bike Boulevard Project

The City of Ontario has received grant funding as part of the State's Active Transportation Program Cycle 5 for the Vine Avenue & B Street Bike Boulevard Project. These improvements will provide street lighting, traffic calming measures and a designated bike lane connecting Ontario's historic downtown and City Hall area to established residential communities and the De Anza Community & Teen Center and park.

La Ciudad de Ontario ha recibido financiación de subvenciones como parte del Ciclo 5 del Programa de Transporte Activo del estado para el Proyecto Vine Avenue y B Street Bike Boulevard. Estas mejoras proporcionarán farolas, medidas para calmar el tráfico y un carril para bicicletas designado que conectará el centro histórico de Ontario y el área del ayuntamiento con comunidades residenciales establecidas y el parque de De Anza y centro comunitario.
