Kidnapping Recovery

Ontario Police Officers have recovered a child who was kidnapped when a suspect stole his father’s truck.

On January 12, 2018, at approximately 10:16 PM, Ontario Police Dispatch received a 911 call from a man who stated his vehicle had just been stolen with his 10-year-old son inside. The man had pulled into the Chevron gas station located in the 1000 block of North Ontario Mills Drive to fuel his pick-up truck. He allowed his son to stay in the vehicle as he went into the store. While he was inside the store, an unknown male stole the vehicle and drove away with the child inside.

Ontario Police quickly issued an Amber Alert for the vehicle and notified all surrounding agencies. At approximately 11:48 PM, a resident in the city of Fontana received the Amber Alert and spotted the vehicle in the 12000 block of Calabash Avenue. Ontario Officers responded to his location and recovered the vehicle with the child still inside. The child had not been harmed.

The suspect is believed to be a thin, white, male adult, with tattoos on his neck. He was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt.

Investigators are actively working the case and are attempting to gain more information at this time. The suspect has not yet been identified.
