Officers from the Ontario Police Department’s DUI Enforcement Team will be deploying during the week to stop and arrest alcohol and drug-impaired drivers in the department’s ongoing traffic safety campaign. DUI Saturation Patrols will deploy on Thursday, May 5, 2016 between the hours of 6 p.m. and 2 a.m. in areas with high frequencies of DUI collisions and / or arrest.

The Veterans Resource Center at the Ontario City Library is now open and providing assistance to veterans in the Inland Empire area. The center has five trained volunteers to aid veterans and their families obtain benefits. The center is open Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 10 AM to 1 PM.  Veterans do not need an appointment to come to the center for assistance, but are welcome to make an appointment if more convenient.

 

Producers of the Huck Finn Jubilee Bluegrass Music Festival, the Greater Ontario Convention & Visitors Bureau, has announced the addition of Jerry Douglas presents the Earls of Leichester to the Friday, June 10 line up.  Hot off the stage at Stagecoach, The Earls of Leicester are a bluegrass group. Their self-titled debut album earned the 2015 Grammy Award for Best Bluegrass Album. Leicester is pronounced as if it were spelled Lester. Each year 7-Eleven, Inc. helps thousands of local police officers recognize the good guys, specifically the young ones. For the 21st year, 7-Eleven is partnering with law enforcement agencies across the country to distribute free Slurpee drink coupons through Operation Chill.

On March 19, 2016, Kaiser Permanente awarded the City of Ontario and the Healthy Ontario Initiative an additional $1 million to expand and strengthen their existing HEAL (Healthy Eating, Active Living) interventions in the Ontario HEAL Zone for another three years, Phase 2.  Kaiser Permanente’s HEAL Zone Initiative is designed to increase opportunities for healthy behaviors.
