Programs, Services & Annual Events

What is KinderGO?

KinderGo is a program designed to enhance educational awareness through city-wide library card distribution to Ontario’s kindergarten students. This program gives kindergarten students and families a personal invite to the library to ensure they are introduced to the services offered to them at the start of their child’s educational experience.

Who does it serve?

KinderGO serves Kindergarten aged students and families. During KinderGO, city staff visit classrooms to share a fun read-aloud story and provide students with a KinderGO bag, wallet and library card.

Ontario City library staff, as well as other departmental staff, visit each kindergarten classroom in the City of Ontario. Visits are coordinated within 4 different districts in the city: Ontario Montclair School District, Mountain View School District, Cucamonga School District, and Chino Valley Unified School District.

Vital Stats?

Over the past four years (2015-2018), over 170 city staff have participated in this educational awareness effort. We have visited 25 different school sites, and over 257 individual classrooms. A total of 8,693 students have received KinderGO library cards, wallets, and bags.
