Ontario Police respond to an assault on the SR60 freeway.

On Wednesday, July 28, 2021, at 5:01 P.M. Ontario Police received multiple calls regarding a fight involving several individuals on the eastbound SR60, east of Vineyard Avenue. When officers arrived on scene, they contacted the parties involved. The initial altercation transpired as a result of a traffic collision. The victim sustained moderate injuries from the assault and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

The collision occurred on Monday, July 5, 2021 at 11:13 AM on Riverside Drive, east of Euclid Avenue. Two pedestrians, who are local fruit vendors, were crossing northbound across Riverside Drive when the suspect vehicle collided with them and their fruit cart. One of the pedestrians was pronounced deceased on scene and the second pedestrian was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.

The City of Ontario is partnering with its residents to combat illegal fireworks in the community, and will host a fireworks takeback event on Saturday, June 19.
 
From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. that day, residents can drop off fireworks at Fire Station 3, 1408 E. Francis St. Drop offs can be done anonymously.
 
The abatement event comes two weeks before the Fourth of July and three months after a fireworks explosion killed two people and caused millions of dollars of damage to an Ontario neighborhood.
