The City of Ontario is saluting active servicemembers with the launch of its new military banner program.

The City has installed 25 banners of active duty military personnel who reside in Ontario or have immediate family members living in the City. The banners are located on Mountain Avenue between the 60 Freeway and the Interstate 10 freeway.

The banners feature the name and branch of the service member.

The new program replaces an earlier banner program maintained by the Greater Ontario Business Council.

The Ontario Recreation & Community Services Department is looking for local bands to compete in a virtual Battle of the Bands competition. Five local bands will be selected by a committee to compete in a weekly battle beginning July 22. The grand finale and announcement of the winning band will be August 26. The grand prize winner will receive a prize, promo video, and the opportunity to perform and open a Summer Concert in the Park next summer.

Ovitt Family Community Library will reopen for limited services on Monday, June 29, 2020. Temporary operating hours are Monday – Saturday from 10am-6pm. Library staff are excited to welcome back patrons after over three months of closure due to the pandemic.

A new COVID Code of Conduct for the library has been created which includes the state-mandated wearing of face coverings for anyone age 3 and up, physical distancing of six feet between patrons, and touchless temperature taking upon entering the building. On Monday, June 1, 2020 the Ontario City Library extended the hours of operation for Check Out, Ontario, the library’s holds pickup service. Pick up is now available Monday through Friday, from 10:30 AM – 6:00 PM and Saturday from 10:30 AM to 2:30 PM at the Ovitt Family Community Library. Customers can place up to ten holds through the library’s online catalog or by calling the library directly. Customers picking up material are asked to bring their library card, wear a face covering, and practice physical… Read More
