Local Agencies Condemn IEUA’s Rushed Rate Hike Vote, Cite Lack of Transparency and Accountability
In a stunning disregard for public opposition and local economic realities, the Inland Empire Utilities Agency (IEUA) voted unanimously last Wednesday to approve an 18% rate hike, spread over two years, despite clear opposition from multiple member agencies, concerns from the public, calls for more transparency, and requests for more time to study the matter.

Local Taxpayer Funding Diverted to State-Focused Project
The City of Ontario urges Inland Empire Utilities Agency (IEUA) to practice transparency as the Agency advances its extensive Chino Basin Program (CBP). IEUA, in concert with six cities and a local water utility, established a technical advisory and policy committee to advise the IEUA Board of Directors on projects such as these. IEUA, however, fails to respect this multi-jurisdictional approach by obscuring the funding process for the CBP.
